Ronnie
Van Zant Park was developed in memory of the original lead singer
of Lynyrd Skynyrd, a popular country-rock band of the early 70's
and still popular today. A tragic plane crash in 1977 claimed his
life and ended the rise of one of the most talented, prolific personalities
to have ever contributed to the world of home-grown music.
The
Ronnie Van Zant park is a beautiful 85-acre recreational facility
featuring basketball courts, tennis courts, hiking trails, a fully
stocked fishing lake, covered picnic cabanas, restrooms, an obstacle
course and a championship 18-hole Frisbee golf course.
